Keeping my heart open is really real for me right now and I want to share a little bit about that.

Before I do, I'm inviting you to take a moment to maybe close your eyes, really connect to your breath, and come into your body. Bring your awareness to your heart space and notice what's present in your heart. Notice, if there are some walls up. Notice if there's a temperature to it, a warm feeling, maybe even a sense of love towards a particular person or thing. Is it more closed up or open? Are you hunching forward or are your shoulders pulling back, opening your heart space? Just noticing what’s on your heart today.

As we move through our lives, things happen. Things that hurt us, things that bring joy, and everything in between. Especially in the relationships in our family, with our parents, but then also the boyfriends and girlfriends, the partners, the fiancé, the husband and wives, all of that, that leaves an imprint. There are so many things that create this closing of our heart that want us to shut down and build up walls to not let anything in. It is scary to get hurt. It is painful get your heart broken. It sucks.

And, we also want to be really present to our life. We want to be present to everything that's going on. We want to be present in our relationships and really feel connection to other people. In order to do that, we have to keep our heart open. We have to allow ourselves to be really vulnerable, to share what's alive in us, and how we truly feel.

For a long time, my heart was really closed. It just felt a lot safer to go through life with my heart closed, still being in a relationship with other people, but holding back a little. Now, I'm at a point where I have pulled down all of the walls… and it's really scary. It's really scary to keep my heart open, to truly share how I feel, to truly share my fears and intentions, and to really lean in to the love that I feel for the people in my life.

We all want to feel connected to other people. The way to really do that is to open our hearts to give and receive love. It is a process. It can take some time to really lean into that. But ultimately, isn't that how we want to live our lives, fully engaged in both the hard times and the difficult emotions, but also all the joy and all the love? When we close ourselves up, when we close our heart, we don't really feel much of the pain and the hurt, but we also don't feel all the joy and the love, the happiness, the abundance as deeply as well.

That's my invitation for you, whatever that means in your life right now, to keep your heart open, to lean in, to stay with something, even if it feels scary, knowing that nobody can make or break you:

Keep your heart open, let love come in and give love to other people. I know it's scary, but it's so worth it.
