Before we begin, I want to share how Sophia on Earth came to be. A couple of years ago, I was contemplating what name I would use for a business. Obviously, my name is Sophia. I am originally from Germany and have a very German last name. Living abroad, I found that it is challenging for people to pronounce my last name. I felt called not to use my last name as my Instagram handle and started thinking about words that have meaning to me, that make me feel good, that represent who I am. Like an artist name. Somehow I landed on “earth.” And this became Sophia on Earth.
Sophia is a Greek word meaning wisdom. Finding the wisdom in our everyday life, in our life here on earth, on this planet, in this human experience, is what we're going to talk about in this podcast.
What strikes me about “earth” is being connected to nature and to the ground. In the yoga sutras, we learn that we will live in harmony if our connection to the earth is steady and joyful. In every yoga posture, we want to firmly connect to the ground through our feet and our hands. Being on earth also means having this human experience. There's something special about being here. So, we will talk about what it means to be human and how each of us gives the human experience meaning and makes it work for them.
You will often hear me talk about feminine and masculine dynamics. We will dive into what I mean when I talk those dynamics on the podcast. Celebrating the amazing qualities of the feminine and also, to the same extent, celebrating the amazing qualities of the masculine. For me, the ladder is a really big deal. There is a lot of negative energy in the world around what men do “wrong” and how men “suck.” I'm not a stand for that. Men and women are equally amazing for the unique qualities that their energy offers. We, women, get to allow men to be in their masculine power, to take care of stuff for us, to be our heroes. I do not want to be part of this movement of emasculating men.
This is the space to celebrate the divine feminine and to celebrate the divine masculine for all that they are and for not nothing less than that.
